Scrambled eggs can’t grasp
Get your neighbor out my pants
Outside, get out my way.
Valentine’s Day
Cupid-shaped cookies,
chocolate cupcakes,
conversation hearts,
all a part of this holiday
in February. I made
my Valentine box,
covered it in white paper,
with pink and “violet red”
decorations. After
we delivered cards
to our classmates,
Missy Johnson just threw
hers into the trash. Why
couldn’t she be happy,
and enjoy everything?
love might split you apart,
a thousand hearts,
chambers unchambered
to bleed in a field.
and so might a dagger,
and so might a wolf’s teeth.
so pray that a wolf loves you,
and pray harder
now that it has the taste of a prince on its tongue.
