Darkness
Busyness by daylight
dreading the night
sleep eludes me
for thoughts of he
No dream
to unburden the ache
to relive the give and take
of our coffee and cream
Blackness invades my sleep
shortchanging my keep
waking to relive my loss
again and again I toss
A year down the line
he comes to me with wine
and a dance
as I weep at a chance
To open my heart
cracking the light.

This is beauteous! I especially love “relive the give and take”.
So poignant and sad. But the last two lines are beautiful, and a sign of hope.
Thx for your encouragement!
Linda – I am so glad you opened your heart to poetry! Amazing last two lines.
Keep on rhyming 🙂
Linda – read the title ‘Darkness,’ first line ‘Busyness by daylight,’ and the last line, ‘cracking the light.’ It works! and I can feel it – really.
