Quick to anger
Quick to anger
You put on feelings
like a jacket
to break the chill wind
of my desire.
I ask you to leave
room for me
in your soul’s sleeve
and you stop.
“Must you take everything?”
you ask
and toss my request
into the air.
I follow its flight
with ardent eyes
and catch it
with eager hand.
“You should have let it fall,”
you say,
“for it is shattered
already!”

Such playful language, even if the topic isn’t. Enjoyable to read
Good to read your poems again! Love the images here. First stanza goes straight to the heart.
“Playful” is the word that came to my mind, too–the jacket, the dialogue, the lightness.
Thanks, Gaby.
Thanks Sylvia, it is great to read your words as well and I do with anticipation.
thanks, Maggie. I appreciate that.
I am enjoying your poetry again as well, Sylvia.
