The Nature of Villainy
My four-year-old boy
Waist-deep in a kid-targeted superhero flick
Asks me: Dad, what’s a villain?
He already sees the routines, the hallmarks,
Even in this bewilderingly popular and hamfisted slapdashery,
But he also sees how “bad guys/girls”
Can be charming, enticing, compelling.
Rather than explain Lucifer’s sparkling wiles
In Paradise Lost, I go with this:
Villains are just a big collection of bad or hurtful decisions.
He seemed to get that.
I hope this one sticks.

Ugh. The villain logo was specified to be centered, but it did not appear as was set by me. Not sure why. I Preview’s the hell out of it to avoid mistakes.
My apologies. The “five-minute’s-grace” edit button would be a saviour here. 😉
Love it!
