The Kingdom He Ruled
– after Dr. Seuss
A man may know his worth
only when
he sits down on his throne
and is surrounded
by love: A dog,
two cats, and knocking
accompanied by shouts
of “Daddy! Daddy!”
Sometimes, porcelain
is more valuable than
gold.

sounds like a mighty fine kingdom
I enjoyed this, especially how the poem turned at “porcelain”
Ty guys.
I’ve continued writing this month, though not posting because they were more personal pieces.
This was just a reminder (to myself) that poetry doesn’t have to take itself so seriously, even if the meaning is legit. 😛💙
Beautiful

How we cherish those moments of Daddy, daddy or mommy are you there mom.
Brilliant summation of what we all hope for.
💙 the boys are currently down south, but I had an entourage of furbabies last night 😂
Well said! The world needs more daddy poems.
Thank you, Linda 💙
You’re the second to request for daddy poems. Maybe a push to focus in my little guys now.
I. Love. This! It makes me laugh and tear up all at once. The funny annoyances and preciousness of parenthood. <3
😂💙. Good! What I was hoping for!
It’s easy to get so aggravated in the moment. And then those kiddos are gone for the summer and you realize how cherished even those are 💙
