A Musing of the Barely Self-Aware
Oh, those neighbor kids who flood
my quiet time with laughter
echoing off the breeze shushed
treeline – my walk in the woods,
alone with shadows and slant
sun, chastened by a nagging
discontent with others’ joy.

I really liked all of the strong images you created here!
I enjoyed this, so much truth! I feel it!
An introverted ramble, with discontent nagging!
This is great, Dick. It’s so tight – each word a gem.
“alone with shadows and slant.” I like the enjambment leading up to the “sun, chastened…” Somebody’s got to keep us all in line, right? 🙂 Let there be light.
Those 7×7 sevens are us do the darnedest things. I am enjoying the form (thanks to you).
I really enjoyed this, especially the amount of detail you put into this concise form
“nagging / discontent with others’ joy” ha! Good poem
Nice: alone with shadows and slant
