Hydro Cat Nurse Mouse
In hot pursuit,
I forget
I became water
to slip through cracks
and bypass my tendency toward
self-destruction.
In hot pursuit,
I found
I needed
to ease your suffering
and bypass your tendency toward
self-disjunction.

This is compact, meaningful and nicely done. You had me at the title alone, but it is a thoughtful ride all through.
You had me at your name alone, but appreciate your comments.
I have lots of questions, Stefan 🙂 But I like the feel of this, the form, and the language.
You will have lots of answers soon, I think. Definitely have to thank Libby for being the voice in my head saying “tighten!”
and you for be the voice that says “less suffering, more narrative!”
Love the format and the way you paralleled the ends of each stanza.
Thank you for your comment. The poem was originally something different and I meant to trail in a different direction but settled on the form/parallel device since the subject is a about a pair.
Thought provoking poem….want to know more!
