Dissonance
I love singing harmony
but a dissonant closing chord
holds tension and motion
and makes the moment beautiful
like the crow of a city rooster.
When my five-year old would ask
a question I couldn’t answer,
she’d announce, “It’s a mystery!”
We preferred the mystery.

this dissonance
is sweet
to my ears
I love the addition of the photo of the mysterious red rooster. Great snippet.
Sill loving your photos.
And I like the mysteries too!
Love your photo, and the lines “makes the moment beautiful / like the crow of a city rooster” and how that pairs with the idea of mystery.
Yes, it’s good to make friends with mystery. The poem and image are perfectly, imperfectly, married. I really enjoyed this!
Never thought about unanswered questions being like dissonance. Thanks for my “thought of the day.”
That is one pompous looking rooster! Your tensions are harmonious.
makes the moment beautiful like a city rooster!
Great work. The last lines in particular are delightful.
