Time
Watching “Mama Mia” for the third time
(this time at a restored movie palace
in Rock Island, Illinois), I see my hand
shake. I feel my jaw spasm every so
often (but more frequently) when I
speak, each word struggling to be
born. These little reminders are why
this poem is important.

I love it that such a short poem has such a good sense of place.
!!! Yes!!!
Nice one, Lee! Love those last lines.
Lots of meaning in a small space!
Tight poem, but I suspect that “Time” won’t be the final title, and I think that “each word struggling to be / born” would make for a stronger ending.
I like you advice, Tom, so I have reworked the poem a little. Still a work in progress:

struggles to be born.
