Brokedown Palace
I swore that last year was the last one
Until this year they said it was the final one
So last night I broke down and bought two
Hoping for some good final memories
My current favorite
I’m standing with my deadhead cop friend
(true fact!)
in the promenade between sets
and she walks up and says, Hey Mark
wearing a pair of olive green overalls
and nothing else
I was grateful

I like the deadhead cop friend and the overalls. I’m confused about “the last one” and “the final one” (one what?) as well as “the promenade between sets” (musical sets? mathematical sets?).
Tom, I saw the Dead play 23 times before Jerry Garcia died. For many years I didn’t follow the remaining members. When John Mayer was added as guitar, I started going to a show a year, if they came nearby. But last summer’s show just seemed to me like a cover band, and I said “that was my last one” until they announced this year that this tour was their final one – and I broke down
