Roll Credits
The boy who gives away
chocolate samples at the mall
looks forward to visits from the girl
who sells tickets at the movie theater.
He likes to see her smile
and know he made it happen,
or anyway the candy did,
and he hopes she thinks
of him later as she licks
chocolate off her fingers,
though when she tells him
there’s no actual butter in
the theater’s so-called buttered popcorn,
he wonders if she’s saying
there’s nothing real between them.
He ponders this as he sits
alone in the dark.

So earnest and true, and therefore a little melancholy. Very nicely done.
Thanks!
Yes , the flatness of this makes it soar.
Excellent!
Thanks Coleman.
Okay, my favorite of yours ever, sir 🖤
Oh thanks!
I like this poem which illustrates that the boys ponder over relational waters, too, and that even a few words strung together can yield a universe of possibilities in the mind.
Thanks for teading, Laura.
I love it!
Thanks Dennis.
Delicious. Those two sensual tastes, chocolate and butter, at once innocent and erotic. That poor boy in the dark. He’s in for it.
Ha! Good reading, Kevin.
Love this image! So much packed in!
Thanks Linda.
