Writing a Stroke Tanka
words to a new poem
buried in my confused brain
I watch a kite in a movie
imagine clear-cut words birthing
new poems written on kite-tails

is this like disassociation?
I don’t think of it like that. It’s very associated to me — at least to my brain. I imagine new poems being written on kite-tails.
when a child learns
to use words
they use wild inventive
combinations of sounds
and meaning
it’s the essence of poetry
& your poems have that essence
Written on kite tails— wonderful! I’m so happy you’re writing on whatever material.
I love that last image–the words aloft on a kite tail.
This one feels to me like a kaleidoscope – pictures moving, becoming something new, still beautiful.
this sounds like your new mission statement
“I imagine new poems being written on kite-tails.”
You soar.
” as you wish “
I really like the last image Linda, very unique!
I know I have to see a word in my mind if I’m trying to spell or pronounce it. I love visualizing them on kite tails!
Let those kite tails soar, Linda!
It’s a lovely poem, very hopeful.
Also enjoying the imagery here and the irony as well. That the words feel initially jumbled but are unified in that last, lovely location.
