More than Flowers; Haikus in June
Spring rains close to blue
quiet as lightning, falling;
summer opens eyes
Yet unseen, you bloom
in a garden of crystals
amethyst & quartz
Dusty roses press
pierced by silver & distance
between now and then
Peonies blushing
delicious afternoon sheen
awash in these words
Us, underwater
unexpectedly, we grow
these aquatic roots
Nectar & stamen
sharing hidden beds & sheets
of slow rain dancing
Summer smiles on us;
we are more than the flowers
opening to drink.

Beautiful haiku!
Ty! And great to finally meet you, man!
Joseph
These haiku
got me to do
what they should:
open my eyes
🙏
Absolutely beautiful, Joseph.
“pierced by silver & distance

Yes! I really love this. That last line is everything. 🖤

Thank you all.
I apologize I haven’t had the time or energy to respond to each comment this year. Been a rough period.
The three of you are my most frequent commenters. Thank you for reading, for replying thoughtfully, for hearing me.
You are heard as well.
And know I read all your pieces, whether I comment or not.
Zero apologies necessary. Wishing you comfort and ease through the rough time.
