Personal Retreat
Salmon swim into the
cabbage patch black hole.
Bubblegum indigo brick
lines the garden path.
Obsidian fig leaves rustle
in the key of Genesis
as whale song entertains
the whole enchilada.
Inspired by Paint Chip Poetry and “Navigating Grief: A Guided Journal“

What does your Personal Retreat look like?
Whatever it’s like, I hope you’re there often.
I love that surprising ending!!
It’s a pod, a tune, and a little feista, all in one.
Loving the images of this mystical garden thats paved by magical bricks
Thank you. It was the luck of the draw along with the right theme, and, sure, poetic muscles.
Love you.
I loved reading this, so whimsical.
Why thank you!
Whimsy is my wheelhouse.
Cheers!
This poem is my jam, I love a whimsical dream like adventure!
Appreciate you very much, Sugarcube!
Yes! Very whimsical! We all need a personal retreat!
Yes we do! Playing with a detailed look at our own in poetry form meshes two worlds that I adore.
I always enjoy when poems use words not often seen in poetry. Like, I don’t know that I’ve ever read the word enchilada on this site, and it’s such a great way to end this poem.
Thank you!!
That wonderful weird was miraculously on the menu–
Cause I pulled it from my trusty Paint Chip Poetry deck.
A tool worth getting.
I agree with Philip: this poem works and feels like a great discovery. Love “rustle/in the key of Genesis”
Oh, thank you, Shaun.
I can tell you, I look at that bit and can not retrace how I got there.
I cited my inspirations, but that was really something!
Sounds delightful! Wonderful references to Eden and love the bubblegum indigo coloring! It’s a fantastic mix of familiar and unique, much like you..
Sylvia. What a mighty compliment.
Love that coloration in this poem, as well.
Thanks for being here, and being an ally to creatives!
Love you, friend.
My personal retreat
is a chair on a flat stone
in the middle of a creek.
Thanks for asking
and thanks for your
great poem
Oooo. That sounds like the best retreat!
I’m there in a peaceful holler with you.
Stay blessed, Jim!
Thank you for your love here.
