Tip the Barista
By way of estrangement arrangement
I’ve saved $1,500.00 on Father’s Day gifts.
It’s worth every penny,
graced with Abe Lincoln’s
shiny copper head.
Father Abraham had many sons
and many sons had
a $9 coffee on the way to work.
I pull to the window
and drop some change in a jar
I sip my drink through a straw
like I’ve almost forgotten
to feel bad about the turtles
after all this time.

I love “Father Abraham had many sons/and many sons had/a $9 coffee on the way to work.”
corporations should pay baristas a living wage…
and i hope turtles never start to get behind the wheel.
all of them splattered on the road thru the years-
seems like a recipe for feeding plenty of rage.
sip lightly into that good night- sweet prince. 🙂
