Post-Debate Tanka
I’ve been kneading loaves
since I heard the news, hoping
the day’s baking can
distill the chill from my blood—
I see shelves brimming with bread

This is good one! Thank you for watching it. I just couldn’t.
I didn’t watch – just heard the news this morning.
On all our minds today… I’m writing about it as well.
Yes, lots and lots of loaves will be needed/ kneaded in the months/ years ahead.
Was tough to watch. I wrote my American Sentence for today right after it to knead my anger into words.
Love the process of making bread and how you use it. Hope rises here:
distill the chill from my blood—
I see shelves brimming with bread
hard not to feel
ALL is lost.
every candidate
should knead
bread
A beautiful reminder to do what we can.
I watched the whole debacle- one candidate would not answer the questions and spun his MAGA lies while the other stumbled over words and thoughts.
Thank you, Nancy! The bread brings us back to center. I can smell the sweet fresh rising.
A good response–create something–to the alternative of last night!
Yes – choose baking bread to watching the debate!
shelves brimming with bread
A best outcome!
Bread: evocative, useful, needful. We need more bread-makers!
Thank you for this, Nancy.
