Center of the Universe
Inside a stone circle in Tulsa
your words echo only to yourself &
even those just beyond its forcefield
watching your mouth move
cannot hear you yelling
I imagine many line up
to try it on
a temporary puzzle
a fascinating experiment
I imagine some
with voices
that have been muted before
widen their path
lest a quicksand sinkhole
open beneath them
again

‘inside a stone circle’ LOVE it. The line breaks are awesome. Welcome LexPoMo!
Love ‘voices that have been muted before widen their path’ glad to see you here!
Wonderful image. Puts me right at the scene and in the moment.
Thanks, All. I read about this place in an article and it has been stuck in my mind for days.
A real place?! I read this metaphorically—picturing place/someone the persona had finally gotten away from and the many who are also attracted at first! Amazing what a reader can bring to a well-written poem !
Thank you for reading! And yes, it definitely morphed into something along those lines.
