First Morning at Nags Head
I wake and think I’ll watch the sun
rise over the ocean and wait
until a message in a bottle
beaches in my mind.
The rhythm of gentle waves
unmoors my boat.
Only water, only sky –
the world has become large

What a perfect morning meditation!
Well done Mike.
” message in a bottle/beaches in my mind ” dang!!!
Very well written.
“until a message in a bottle
beaches in my mind. ”
Gorgeous.
Love this. It brings me there!
Aaaaah. I can feel myself relaxing as I read this.
I think I’ll try your morning trek, except mine’s with the mountains. This is an elegant poem, with a great idea: the bottle, in the middle!
what I love best is the difference between the staccato first stanza and the legato second stanza
Nice verbs in this thoughtful morning meditation. Love it!
Gorgeous, Mike.
Simplicity can be staggering
and top-heavy with meaning.
So well done.
I love the beach, the ocean, and watching the sun rise. This takes me there.
