“…hiss of bitter coffee…” such a strong image! And I love the structure you have going through your pieces this June!
“tin foils shooting stars”—at once a wanderlust but wistful line. Well written!
Love “his cologne the hiss of bitter coffee.” Your details are pleasant surprises
Wow! so much packed in this one sentence!
I’ve read your posts so far, and I really like this short form. It forces the reader to focus on the nuance. I enjoy in this one how you note the “hiss” of coffee when so often what folks would mention is the smell of coffee. Great way to disrupt the imagery and consider how cologne and the sound of item go together–again, forced to notice! Love it.
Thanks for riding the train, y’all! Your comments are encouraging and bring me great delight! I continue to be surprised each day when I sit on the train and watch the passengers already and newly boarded, settling in and showing a hint of themselves.
