How Young Is Too Young
to fall in love? Second grade,
I pined for Ted Ruddock,
confident, carefree red-haired
boy who lived six houses
down the street from me. I got
on the school bus at the first stop.
He got on at the second.
For one whole school year
I prayed he’d take the empty
seat next to me.

This is lovely. That whole year must have been a rollercoaster. I wonder, did he ever fill the empty seat next to you on the bus?
I love this. The butterflies at that stage, and the secret notebooks scribbling their name with a heart. I hope you did get to feel his closeness on the bus.
This made me smilt – my 4-year-old grandson berates me for not getting phone numbers of children he plays with at the library!
Delightful, Gwyneth!
Young ❤️ love
Sweetness!
Love this title that falls into a question in the first line.
Hope he sat next to you before the year was out.
