these stupid fungus gnats
despair—
my poor plant babies, encrusted with warfare!
is this the cost of sunlight children?
must i be doomed to these stupid pests who fly up my nose while i write poetry because i swear to GOD i will BURN THIS HOUSE DOWN.
anyways…
someone please tell me how to get rid of fungus gnats,
or else it will be my sanity that splats.

Love the authenticity here. So real, girl.
Decidedly genuine. Despair, frustration, and anger are palpable. Very affecting poem is applicable to present situation. Sensory imagery vivid, especially effective ending poem with “splats” onomatopoeia. All lowercase breaks rules, while rejecting authority and rigidity. Thank you for sharing this authentic poem. With gratitude
Oh man the anger behind these words. I hate those things as well!
On a practical note, a cup of apple cider vinegar mixed with dish soap covered with plastic wrap with little holes poked in it. They can get in, but harder for them to get out!
