Parting
can i sit with you one last time
before i go, before i go
we’ll never have this chance again
my time is coming to an end
please know i love you so
can i sit with you now before i go
can i hold your hand one last time
before i go, before i go
we’ll never have this chance again
my time is coming to an end
please know i love you so
can i hold your hand now before i go
will you sing to me one last time
before i go, before i go
we’ll never have this chance again
my time is coming to an end
please know i love you so
will you sing to me now before i go
please know i love you so
now it’s time for me to go . . .

The sounds and repetition of this poem beg and need to be set to some sort of music.
Thank you for your kind words, Shaun. Your suggestion is well worth considering.
Music indeed…. I have made similar songs in anticipation of saying goodbye to loved ones…. There is a comfort in the repetition. A lullaby for the end of a journey.
Thank you, Leah. 💛
Poignant anticipatory grief.
Thank you for your feedback, Linda. Times like this, writing has its intended effect
Thank you, Linda, for your gracious and perceptive comment
Definitely Larry, this is a song that is awaiting a catchy tune!!! Rhythm and beat solidly defined. I love the idea of writing tunes!
