Geranium Kiss
Pots of red
geraniums dress
the balcony in
dark blue glaze,
clustered petals dance
reach up
invoking peace,
ruffled leaves
satin green
twined in artful arabesque
summer benediction.

A geranium kiss is essential today! Thanks for this blessing.
There’s a painterly quality in the way you set the scene—red against blue glaze, the “artful arabesque” of leaves. The poem is meditative and rich, like a still life brought to motion. I especially love “summer benediction”—the whole piece feels like a blessing.
A graceful musicality partnered with vivid, colorful imagery invokes a gentleness here. A lilting, danceable rhythm employed to tangible measure:
“ ruffled leaves
satin green
twined in artful arabesque.”
Your poem made my day. Thank you, Virginia Lee Alcott
Wonderful images, and the concrete details support the abstract “peace.” A lovely poem!
Thank you for sharing this.
I love the concise and layered close description of this piece.
