Thanks, Facebook
How can I put this politely?
There are many reasons I uninstall you
periodically,
why I don’t want to fatten hate-fueled pockets,
why I joined bluesky to stop entertaining
bots and boot-lickers.
You’re a big reason social media
is rotten, dead, and divisive, yet
you also still prove it’s who you know
(not what you know).
Without my friend announcing
her cucumbers in bloom,
I may have missed my first flower,
and the pollinators would have had less
time to visit. I lifted the insect net.
time to visit. I lifted the insect net.
Not knowing won’t hurt us.
Until something delicate
and dear to us might be involved.

So true, Tabitha! “I lifted the insect net.” I have so enjoyed your poems, gardening and other, this year!
Thank you so much, dear!
I truly appreciate your craft, as well.
I hope you see this- I’m coming to Lexington Sunday noon- Wednesday noon!!
This is so good, Tabitha. I also like lifting the insect net – a recognition that what can be bad can also bring something good.
Oh, how I love that interpretation!
Duty called – the pollinators need to come!
(And I’ll be coming to Lexington Sunday-Wednesday! There’s a reading at Sitwell’s Coffee Tuesday night that drew me in … hopefully you see this and I’ll see you.)
Seconding Nancy! Appreciate the recognition of small glimmers of good amongst the bad
Thank you so much. It was also fun to share with someone close to me who was concerned the pollinators couldn’t reach all the blooms of every plant in the beds.
Yes, yes, yes. Well said and well crafted.
One of my cousins completely left FB. She live in Florida. Now we have 2 hour phone calls and try to NOT talk about politics. LoL
Rofl.
Good for the two of you!!
I should say– I returned to Facebook this week so I could share LexPoMo stuff (and see what my friends there were sharing).
Exactly, Tabitha. I have a similar love/hate relationship with Mr. Zuckerberg. I hate him sometimes but just can’t quit him.
Social media overall can still serve us well!
It can connect us to each other immediately!
That reminds me: I drive to a friend today and noticed a few places I want to learn more about through Instagram!
Great discussion about Facebook – it’s my way to stay in touch but get annoyed by the click bait.
You. Said. It.
Love you!
There’s a beauy and tenderness that takes over and covers the technology with flowers. I love it.
Wow!
I have appreciated your ability to get to the core of my work, and explain it so clearly.
Thank you for reading my poems and the acknowledgement!
