I’m in the program
Whatever that means
I’ve drunk the cool aid
Given in
Changed teams
Called home
Walked a mile in my own shoes
Swam the English Channel
Drowned
Saved by the pilot
Crash cart
Defibrillator
Narcam
20 minutes
Near death
Now
When I sleep
I speak
To angles.

I love “cool aid” and “speak/to angles.” The title makes me think of AA, but I’m not sure that’s intentional. I’m also not sure why there’s a trigger warning on this one.
I put a trigger warning because I thought reference to addiction, cool aid and death and narcam might be upsetting to someone. Even if not all are literal.
Wow. Read this in a breath.
Intrigued by this switch from ‘another’ to ‘my’ “Walked a mile in my own shoes”
Small switch to make the focus for the speaker inward.
Whatever that means! 🙂
It’s sometimes a question.
Wow. Keeps us guessing a bit but we get the gist.
In the end. Angels. Have to get through the rest!
There’s a cryptic and staccato rhythm here. The short lines create a movement that builds effectively!
Thank you! I will remember the staccato if I do this in a reading.
