Bucket List
1. Plant Trees
#2. Clean attic
#3. See number 1
We did not find one shed snakeskin.
No one got bit by any spiders.
Cleaning out the attic has been on our list
of chores for a year now.
It would be best to do in the bugless cold.
However, a repair is in order.
Attic window, the light comes in
around the edges, the wasps too.
This month, all of our boxes, totes, bags
random loose pictures, and old photos
come down the ladder. Laptops, printers.
an old birdcage, all the posters, a shoe,
one shoe, smaller than a dollar bill.
This month again has been amazing. Over 300 poets
have written over 4000 poems.
Robert Frost says that a poem is when a thought
finds an emotion and the emotion finds its words.
The words, the poems this month have been becoming
and beguiling, beseeching and brilliant. “When the music’s
over, and we finally walk away, we can walk together
we can say,
Goodnight and Goodmorning.”
Or we can sing…

Good night and Good morning! Love the list of items coming down from that attic. And that #1 is so worth repeating. I’ve really enjoyed your poems this month Coleman and can’t wait to see the collection. Thanks for the kind words on your poems as well. We walk on.
Thanks for this poem. I enjoyed how deliberate and effortless it was.
Oh, this poem is perfect! Those to-do lists can get bonkers, but yours, like this poem, is crisp, pointed, and fresh.
I just love the song, too. Reminds me of riding around as a kid with my mom in her Firebird.
Thanks for writing and sharing such beautiful poems with us this month. It’s been such a joy to read them.
I love how that last line mirrors my poem, not be an egoist.🙃 I also love that old bird cage. But best of all, I love your first line — plant trees!
Beautiful way to tie your poem with Linda’s. It’s like we have both shoes now. You have planted poems as well as trees. May both grow well!
This is wonderful – I cleaned out my attic yesterday and was mentally writing poetry while doing and reflecting on the connecting between the two, and here it is in your perfectly crafted poem. Thank you for your beautiful work!
Good Night and Good Morning! Thanks for the link, listening now as I write this comment.
Adore: “one shoe, smaller than a dollar bill.”
Thank you for sharing your work and for being a part of the conversation about my work.
This has been a rich LexPoMo! Here’s another song to sing us out until next year, https://youtu.be/oz6V0HXRg8M?feature=shared. May we all continue to dig up a diamond!
That song is perfection!
Beautiful, Coleman—a quiet nightcap for your month of brilliance. Now you can take a nice long nap.
Thanks for sharing your wide ranging and engaging poetry. It’s impressive how you bring together so many different ideas into your work. Also, appreciate your sense of humor and encouraging comments.
Here’s to clearing out the attics of our homes and minds. May the trees we plant thrive.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and poems this past month! Really enjoyed your work!
Coleman,
To end it in song ~ Good Night & Good Morning brings a strong wave of ALOHA memories ~ teaching on Kauai . . .
a power filled month of pens, sharing souls, cheering each other on down a big fun slide . . .
appreciated your words and being apart of this Kentucky writin’ family, being the west coast Cali I am,

Yes thank you Mr. Frost,
a poem is when a thought
finds an emotion and the emotion finds its words . . .
thanks to our common unity we all found the words!
Wonderful!
“This month, all of our boxes, totes, bags . . .”
Yes! I love your reflection here— and throughout this magical month.
A gorgeous piece. Coleman, I think this LexPoMo, I have read some of my favorite Coleman poems yet. It’s a pleasure being here with you and learning from you!
