Cartographer’s Wanted

Sunlight, it stirs across my map
as day approaches noon
a stranger comes with gentle tap
breaking with playful tune
my silent litany on display
forgot in cheerful mood
that world for which my eyes might pray
through words falls into view

love the meter, rhyme, image, and movement of these ekphrastic quatrains that capture the Vermeer painting so well
Thank You! I’m glad you enjoyed them!
Gaby nailed it! I agree with her.
Very rhythmical. I love this poem!
Charming little poem. I like it a lot!
Great write. That opening line is magic.
Ooo, fun! It certainly does fall into view, popping out of the painting like that. Nice!!! I also think this is a cool painting to have chosen.
