Epitaph for Emily Dickinson
No Need to look
I’ve wandered off
as I sometimes do.
Though Death is near,
I greet him now
as a friend past due.
So when I leave,
do not despair
I go to lands anew.
We’ll meet again
on streets of gold
by inns of molten blue.

This is beautifully haunting (of course, for Dickinson!!). I just love how it builds to that final stanza:
“We’ll meet again
on streets of gold
by inns of molten blue.”
Love this.
Thank you!
This done on Emily’s tone and penchant for capitalizing important ideas. I adore the last stanza.
Thank you!
you’ve captured her style
Oh thank you! She is a longtime favorite.
Such a smooth flow to this. Thanks for sharing it!
Thank you for reading and responding : )
Wonderful style riff.
Subtle and true.
Great concept, well executed.
Thank you!
Wonderful! Beautifully crafted– the rhyme scheme creates a gentle rhythm that matches its theme. And— How interesting Emily D inspired us both on day 3. Synchronicity.
Her spirit will be pleased I hope!
Emily would admire this 🙂
Hope so!
