Candidate for Liquidation
Oregon Coast Range
potential BLM sale area
no stumps,
looked untouched by logging
Stopped for lunch near large old Doug fir
base diameter:
94 inches
thick wrinkled bark with grooves
Old growth critical to ecosystem,
that tree a candidate
to be chopped down
for stockholders’ financial gain

Noooooooo!
Heartbreaking and love the drive by and see (truly see) manner of the poem.
Thanks, Pam! Appreciate you truly seeing the heart of this poem

This poem moves swiftly, much like the ecological changes we experience. I appreciate how you draw the reader into feeling for the tree.
Thank you, Virginia Lee, for your perceptive reading and kind words. I always learn from your comments
Ecology and politics/money butt heads again. Sad for the earth. My husband thought I was an idiot, but I cried every time we had to cut a tree down! Thanks for the poem.
Yes, Sylvia, your astute reading addresses the poem’s essence. I share your sadness for the earth and all beings (including trees). And you are welcome
Oh Larry when the trees are attacked this is a deep wound. How can people profit on our TREES’ DEMISE? They are our leafy FAMILIES around us to aide our breathing and to manage our ecological balance. I appreciate your words!
I appreciate your heartfelt words too, Darlene. Be well
