Metaphor For an Ex
The scab is a little too
picked at to heal properly.
Even if I forget for a couple
of days, I still go back to it,
start messing with it and, before
you know it, I’m raw and
bleeding all over again.

Ouch. Good poem for a bad booboo.
What an excellent description of how the demise of a relationship wounds us, and the wound sure can have a problem healing. Excellent metaphor. Careful word choices, no “flotsam and jetsam” at all! Every single word pays it rent to reside in this poem. And this is so relateable.
Well done! Thank you.
