Summer square dance
Dancing with the Oak trees,
the wind waves me over to join
in the gala, showing off June’s
green gown as the sun-shadowed
leaves flutter and fawn.
Queen Anne nods her lacy head
and bows over wild carrot roots.
Above, the sky’s light smiles
down with warm pride as the
clouds circle in the promonade.

Beautiful! I love how you bring the natural world to life.
And I am thinking of Hindman’s square dance next month!
It is getting closer! I need to finish with my costume. How about you?
Agree with Michele.
Love: “Queen Anne nods her lacy head/and bows over wild carrot roots.”
Thank you!
Love the square dance angle on June’s treasures.
Thank you!
I love the bunch you dance with, especially how Queen Anne’s lace bows over the carrot roots
Thank you!
Love how you frame this summer scene as a square dance!!!
This also reminded back in the 70’s I waitressed at a Lum’s burger joint in Carbondale, Illinois and we were all hoping to go home early to party when an entire “band” of age 50 something or more (of course they could have been younger—I was in college then and every adult looked old to me!) walked in wearing there regalia—those short full skits, cowboy hats, and boots were amazingly surprising to me who grew up in a northern Chicago suburb! I wondered if they would teach me some twirling moves ! Well there’s another poem I. The making! Thank you for yours!
How fun! Although maybe not at closing. Haha! I’ve only seen a real performance at hoe down island in Red Red Gorge and once in a nursing home but I sort of remember a lesson or two in p.e. back in the day.
