My Mind is a Bird’s Nest
with twigs and all
tattered tafta ribbons
shiny satins knotted
hoping not to fall
leatherette threads
feathery fluff
a petal, a leaf and
unnameable stuff
splices of yarn
tufts of thread
a springy thing
from an old bed
A conglomerate
held with spirit and spit
ready for a fast ball
like a catchers mitt

Love “held with spirit and spit”. So good.
Ann, just found a bird’s nest outside our bedroom window yesterday. How very serendipitous this poem emerged from your pen & heart xoxoxo lovely i love birdies and their beautiful bright songs!!!
This metaphor is delicious and works on so many levels. May we all cobble together something so nurturing and sheltering of our treasures.
Love the accumulating list of items and rhythm of: “feathery fluff/a petal, a leaf and/unnameable stuff”
Such delicious details to enhance the metaphor. I love the images you create.
