I close my eyes and am transported to the past
 
I see her now in a different light
she sits alone on the stairs
scared and afraid
not a peep is made
not wanting to be heard
but wanting to be seen
why doesn’t anyone care 
what makes her unloveable 
she longs to be comforted 
thinking she should be asleep
she hears her mother  say 
“child is that you ? “
best be on your way 
time you should be in bed 
she sits frozen and doesn’t move

sitting next to her on the stairs
I whisper I am here now
it’s okay , you do not need to be afraid
please don’t be scared
your mother loved you and she cared
You understand now 
 took all her energy to just stay a float
she tried to protect 
she did her best 
through the years her love for you prevailed

what made her unlovable

she is scared and afraid
what will happen if she let’s go

she is tired and once again she is alone
but this time I am her and she is me
she’s holding on for dear life
she is determined to win this fight

she is above in the sky 
looking down on us
the inner child and me
she sends signs only they know
in the clouds and the stars
a shiny dime a chirping bird
sending messages
my sweet child
my beautiful girl
you are heard
please don’t be afraid
 you are a kind and gentle soul
you got her now
time to let the sorrow go.
 
I see her now she is the light
making a difference  and taking a stand 
she is me and I am her 
together hand in hand
