A Letter to My Brother on the Day America Bombed Iran
You would be 81,
your hair would be thick
and white, I know this
because we come
from the same gene pool.
Your great-grandkids would be
clambering on your lap. You
would tell them stories
about your best friend, Charley Gunn,
how he died to protect democracy,
how disappointed you would be
to see what has become of it.

Linda, your poem echos the apology I would have given to my beloved uncle who died a year and a half ago at 101. He did not die in WWII but the cost of war lived with him throughout his years. It was worth it to him for the protection it gave.
