This stack of books calls
Stirring hope of progress but
Stalwart reading fails
Seeking finish is folly
We have more stories than stars

“We have more stories than stars.” Amazing line, strangely reassuring.
I love that last line too. What a great use of form!
I love tanka! Thank you
May we never be finished with stories! Nice job.
the ending line makes the poem. Tanka!
It is a fair thought to have more stories than stars – as if each brain on this planet were wired in neurons numbering multiverses. I adore where this tanka took us.
