Perhaps,
in another world,
I might have been
your shaman,
assisting the spirits.
Perhaps in that world,
you aren’t a Republican
or Democrat, but simply
another human being
wanting to connect.
This planet, devoid of rancor
and rage, could be the place
filled with kindness
where only joy dwells.
Perhaps we would
do well to look at our brother,
not as the other,
but just as another
version of ourself.
