Bottled Poetry
Red Cabernet, Sauvignon,Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Merlot,
Chardonnay, Sauterne, Pinot Noir, Malbec, Zinfandel,
Bordeaux, Muscat, Gewurtztraminer, Chenin blanc
Grapes plucked from vines,
Fermented,
Pressed,
Aged,
Bottled
Sommelier uncorks
Swirls the liquid,
Smells the bouquet,
Guages the body
the tannins, the acidity
Slowly sipping
Makes me mellow
with my fellow
Giddy with only two
Serious and subdued
Floating flawlessly
Like words on the page
Instilling a tone, a thought,
a moment in time uncorked
by the poet.

what a delicious and fun reverie, Linda, a bit of Monty Python, Edith Sitwell, and Kay Ryan. makes me want to go out for a bottle of wine
Me too!
“Makes me mellow with my fellow” pulled a smile out of me. Very fun read. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you!
instilling, uncorked
mighty fine
Very nice. I particularly like the ending.
You had me at pinot grigio! You distill a moment and bring us all in for a sip!!
Linda – Enjoyed the weaving of wine and writing (she says with a glass of wine in her hand). One of my favorites!
great ending
This poem has a nice rhythm; that first verse could be sung! Really liked: moment in time uncorked by the poet.
