Caffeine Addiction
There’s a beast in my head
pounding at my skull,
stretching out my brain like taffee.
It’s begging to be fed.
I silently refuse,
it screeches louder.
It’s friend called stress crawls into my mind
and I make a deal with the black liquid devil.
One cream,
two sugars,
just please make it stop.

I feel this!
I wrote about addiction today as well
I’ll have to go read your poem!
I really like your use of short and long sentence structures in this poem. To me, it feels like the push and pull of “I want the coffee, I don’t need the coffee, I want the coffee.”
Thank you!
