Cast After the Visit to Serpent Mound
The card said:
Community is a conduit, empowered connections
merge and celebrate together, wherever you are.
Serpent Mound spirits appear in our photographs,
you with your long copper hair, head lifted, shoulders back,
and me looking for magick rocks hidden beside trees
with your child– we don’t need the snapshots
to remember imprints everlasting.
This home at the Ohio River a halfway point.
Before that, Colorado’s Cherry Creek.
Next, the Hudson.
The significant currents are of course our own.
Born at the junction where two rivers meet,
I suppose I should be the one who has long known:
We become the rivers,
or close to it.

when water
and water
collide.
… it’s … hee hee … a … RUSH!!
So much going on here. I love the idea of this: “We become the rivers.” I love how the poem becomes fluid and moves us around on other rivers . I love the concept of “born at the junction where two rivers meet.”
Thank you! I was inspired by a friend who posted a couple excerpts from a chapbook from 2014 that was a spell of protection.
I liked the idea of a spell of connection. She had a line like “He became earth” —
And yep! I was born at the junction of two Colorado rivers! Well, at a hospital in the town named for the junction of those rivers … 😉
^——precisely the moments I came here to comment on! 💙
That ending is fantastic
