Child Rearing
We make oatmeal, pancakes, hot chocolate
grandchildren play in the shade
wide grass overgrown
they run run run
play low basket basketball
throw balls at each other
one cries the other says
I’m sorry
after her father insists.

Great snapshot, and the last line really tells the story of that child egocentrism. 🙂
so true
I feel and see this little slice. That reluctant apology at the end is delightful.
Beautiful.
Simply beautiful.
I love how you capture their energy in this poem.
that kind of child
rearing
is endearing
the little voice, and wondering what actually happened
Delightful!
A slice of life!
