Civil Twilight
Strong coffee & it is not dawn not yet day
this is the stunning time of in-betweens.
Freedom like this needs a proper name.
Blonde coffee & it’s not dawn not yet day.
At three degrees it unveils a visible trail
intoxicating in this lighter shade of green.
Warm coffee & it is not dawn not yet day
this is the stunning time of in-between.
*Civil Twilight: when the geometric center of the sun is less than 6 degrees from the horizon.

Beautiful, and I like how the coffee goes from strong to blonde to warm. Changing like the morning sky.
blushing Eos rolling out of bed.
now i’m ready for a second cup..
You’re becoming a neo-formalist! Love the structure in some of these recent poems of yours.
makes me want to get up to witness but where I live I can’t see the horizon, so I appreciate your vision
I have a fascination with liminal time and spaces, nice write!
putting
civil twilight
into personal
lexicon
Yes! The liminal is mind-bending.
Came to scream liminal too 😂
I quote like this one, Coleman!
The repetition and slight variance and unexpected rhyme along with the moment and visuals
Your connection to nature is so absolute! That really works to make the writing authentic and joyous. Thanks for sharing your world with us!
