Class of 1984
Stones encircled by dark, bare
branches of thorns.
Fenceposts throttled
by grasping vine skeletons.
Trellises, gloomy in fall’s grip
show the scars of growth & removal.
Does it have good bones? Plan
for what it looks like when the garden dies.

Great visuals in this, I can really see this garden and the state it’s in. Speaks to more than just this garden, of course. Nicely done.
I love this. I can’t say exactly why but I kept reading it over and over and each time I liked it more. Good work!
