consecutive steps
two of them. you in video.
still chubby face and legs
with wide beam of pride.
a look and feel and smile
i hope to see again and again
on you, at each first step,
at each rise of fall.
pride. that polysemous,
monosyllabic word
of dignity-equality-
humanity– oh,
mi nieto, age one,
is this too much
to tell you? then when?
i watch again. the steps
from mom to dad.
flow of love-values.
and worry less.
and more.

With love like this, it’s hard to imagine your grandson having anything other than the confidence and self-worth to enjoy the major milestones and accomplishments will experience throughout his life.
Such a lovely and heartfelt poem, abuela 🙂
¡Gracias! I appreciate these thoughts!
I like the title. I like the ending. I like!
Thank you kindly! 🙂
This so positively sweet! And I love so many of the phrases here: “wide beam of pride” and “each rise of fall” are my favorites.
Such a sweet expression of love!
