Constancy
I hear love’s language
in the halting speech
of our bodies grown old
together, expression
smooth as tumbled stones
gathered
from our streambed,
laid bare
in the trace of fingers
on wrinkled skin, lips
pressed to cheeks, tears
stilled.

This is wonderful Kathleen. I very much resonate with it.
Lovely Kathleen.
Beautiful.
Heartbreaking. But something needful to hear. Thank you.
I love the touch of these lines: “in the trace of fingers/ on wrinkled skin, lips/ pressed to cheeks”
Constancy is a long lost virtue! Thanks for sharing.
Kathleen – Such a sweet and tender moment. I felt like I was eavesdropping! Just lovely.
Love the image of their language smooth as “tumbled stones,” juxtaposed with the textured skin etc.
Wonderful love poem.
