Every Tree Is Haunted
Every tree is haunted
a house in the waiting
its old spirits
whispering in the leaves
What things we build
from these old woods
their forest sounds
a deeper language
A murder of crows comes calling
from these old woods
ancient words of warning
a no trespassing sign
Where thorns are thirsty things
old spirits looking for flesh
a warning ignored
every tree is haunted

This poem has a great foreboding feel to it. Well done!
great concept!
Philip — Yeah, I dunno why, but just lately the October vibes keep showing up in my work. I’m a big fan for the surreal stuff anyway, *shrug* gonna run with it and see where these poems go. Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you!
