Field of Burgundy Cosmos
Satin petals of
burgundy cosmos
sway in synchrony,
a dance with many dancers.
Petals cupped upward
to catch and glean
the sun.
Leaves of pasted feathers
along the stems
delicate, keeping tempo,
early morning adagio.

Your poems all have such an ethereal quality to them! Love how the petals cup the sun and how the flowers dance. What simple pleasure the flowers give us!
I appreciate your kind words, Sylvia. You are so right about the simple pleasure flowers give us.
So many beautiful moments here but my favorite description must be “Leaves of pasted feathers” because it’s so surprising and true
Thank you for your kind assessment, Shaun. The description of the leaves surprised me too. I had a legal pad page full of a list of possibilities before “pasted feathers” emerged.
Music and mystery in a wide universe. Nice writing, Virginia.
Thank you for your kind words.
