Finding Ranunculus At The Farmers Market
We spent the most time looking
at the palette of ranunculus, an array
of galvanized buckets lined up
next to the reddest tomatoes.
It took me awhile to learn
how to pronounce ranunculus,
the Latin rooted word
stitched with Persian myth.
Once learned, it fell from my lips,
layers of petals,
cylindrical bowls, round and round
a carousel of color.

First off, I love anything connected to The Farmers Market! Second, this makes me want to search out the history of the flower. And, third, that last stanza is so scenic – a dizzying carousel of color! We have bought them as well, beautiful and good lasting quality.
Thank you, Sylvia. You will find the history of the flower very interesting and probably find another poem in it.
That conclusion is gorgeous and you set it up beautifully
Thank you so much.
Gorgeous! I love ranunculus, too! (Ranunculi?)
