Go Away
I can’t listen to your story.
It will confuse my story
that I barely hold together
with spit and constant combing.
If I get lost in your story
I’ll lose hold of my story, ‘
trip over orange traffic cones, ‘
and fall into the empty void.
I’ll fall, story after story,
down down down.
I won’t remember having a life
or even my own name.

Wow ! Incredible and visual.
On a positive note I had an image of the scene in ‘ what dreams may come’ in which he finds her and let’s himself be lost.
I feel this nutty survival instinct sometimes.
Humorous! With some truth in there?! I especially love the last two lines.
Whew!
So relatable for me. And I love visualizing the “active” parallel you create here.
I’m a social worker… so, I feel this within my core.
Thank you all for your kind comments and observations
