The wind howls blowing whistles from the cracks
While the storm windows bang
Mother’s chimes, oft never heard. are sounding…. taking me back….
The leaves cowl dropping like bells that may once have rang
Father’s words, known from my founding
taking me back…..
to the place I called home for a while

Yes! Yes! Yes! “The Leaves Cowl’ is such a tangible expression. I can see their quiver during the howling storm.
The poem presents an almost ‘Wizard of Oz’ return to home. The ellipses also serve as a tool for measuring time and guiding the reader🥳

Thank you for your kind words and notice of my intent.
This resonates with me as I have held The Wizard of Oz dear to my heart since I was a child.
