Hope springs
Before the skepticism,
it was a hand on mine
across a bus seat in Ohio
The proclamation, “home
is where you hang your hat”
before he hung his hat on me
Resting on the hood of a car at 17
watching stars and saying later
if I’m lonely
I’ll marry you
Even if I don’t trust it

the proverbial bad boy that got away?
Ah I never had one of those (wait did I? I forgot about him) . This is a jumble of different people, relationships I wish I could view as an outsider, grown to see if I could understand them
I love your title and the amibiguous, uncertain ending.
Thank you:)
There’s a lot of story compressed here! “before he hung his hat on me” is a great turn.
That’s true – stories spanning probably 7 years I’d say. Funny, to condense a life. Thank you Shaun
